Amended chemicals Classification, Packaging and Labelling Regulations (CHIP4) is proposed to be introduced on 6th April 2009, incorporating measures to allow early compliance with new EU Classification, Packaging and Labelling Regulations bringing alignment with the UN Global Harmonised System.
Substances pre-registered now require full notification in line with proposed deadlines, depending on volumes used within the EU. New substances must undergo full notification and authorisation before they can be placed on the market in the EU.

Hazardous Waste (England & Wales) Regulations 2005 have now been in place since July 2005, covering many new materials such as recovered refrigerants and all movements require a Consignment Note. Remember that different rules apply in Scotland and N Ireland requiring 3 days pre-notification of any movement.
